Description:

From Pufferbilly Days Website:

Pufferbilly Days celebrated 37 years in 2013 with huge crowds, great weather and fantastic entertainment and events. The 2014 celebration will follow the same template as the festival kicks off Thursday, Sept. 4, and runs through Sunday, Sept. 7. Held in the center of downtown Boone on Ninth and Story Streets, Pufferbilly Days got its name from the small steam trains that were used in coal mines in Australia. Starting out as Billy Goats, they then became known as Puffing Billys, before ultimately being referred to as Pufferbillys.

Known for being a Railroad Town, Boone celebrates Pufferbilly Days the first weekend after Labor Day annually. The celebration is rated as one of the top 5 celebrations in Iowa with over 30,000 people every year.

Live music acts are featured Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights as well as on Sunday afternoon on 7th Street. In the past, a variety including polka, country, rock and jazz have featured musical styles.

Other events included in the celebration of Boones Railroad Heritage include: BBQ Contest, Lil Miss & Mr. Contest, craft fair, golf outing, parade, car show, softball tournament at McHose Park, music, a motorcycle show, disc golf tournament, 5K/10K Run, horseshoe tournament and so much more.

Join the fun, enjoy the trains, make new friends, see old friends and remember to visit the other sites in the Boone area. Make plans to join us in downtown Boone for Pufferbilly Days, Sept. 4-7.
