The Waukee Leadership Institute announced a new summer celebration. "Celebrate Waukee" will be held on June 5 - 6, 2015, in the Historic Downtown Triangle and Centennial Park. Celebrate Waukee replaces "Waukee Fest" as the signature summer celebration for the City.

Celebrate Waukee is a family friendly event that will kick off Friday, June 5, with a movie in Centennial Park sponsored by the Waukee Parks and Recreation Department. On Saturday, June 6, the festivities will begin in the Historic Downtown Triangle with a pancake breakfast and a 6K run. A parade will take the fun to Centennial Park where attendees will find a wide range of activities for all ages, including inflatables, food, drinks, live music, fireworks, and much more. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate and unlock all that Waukee has to offer.

Celebrate Waukee is being organized by students from the Waukee Leadership Institute. "Every year I am excited to see the class project for the Waukee Leadership Institute," said Waukee Leadership Institute Board Member, Larry Lyon. "I am excited that this year's class accepted Mayor Peard's challenge to develop a new signature celebration."

Class member and event co-chair, Kathryn Sandie, said, "As a lifelong Waukee resident, I feel very proud to have our class project working on Celebrate Waukee. We are excited to feature the Historic Downtown Triangle and Centennial Park."
